Fear not Arkansas! Tennessee has seen you suffering with the burden of having the most reprehensible politicians in the country, and has offered up one of their congressman, Rep. Scott DesJarlais, to take the focus off you. In fact, Rep. Scott DesJarlais may be worse! AND he represents Tennessee on a national level! Tennessee for the douche win!
Rep. Scott DesJarlais, who is a “pro-life, family-values congressman who worked as a doctor before winning election as a Tea Party-backed Republican” manages to get a on-what-planet-are-these-family-values douche trifecta when he “had an affair with a patient and later pressured her to get an abortion” because “was trying to save his marriage at the time”.
Yep, you read that right.
This incredibly pus-filled humanoid anus not only humped a patient while he was married, he got her pregnant and then badgered her to get an abortion. He has admitted that the taped conversation is true – in fact he is the one that made the tape apparently in an attempt to “show” his then-wife that he was taking care of his extramarital issues. His only defense is that he thinks the press are being poopy heads for tattling on him, whining that “Desperate personal attacks do not solve our nation’s problems, yet it appears my opponents are choosing to once again engage in the same gutter politics that CBS news called the dirtiest in the nation just 2 years ago.”
Dude, if you run as a far-right anti-choice asshat who wants legalized bigotry against LGBTQ citizens to ‘protect the sanctity of marriage’ they fact you are a lying, hypocritical cuntmonkey who lives his life in the EXACT opposite way as he is trying to force other Americans to live is politically germane. Deal with it.
Adding to his overall twatness level is that his website touts the fact that he is “married to Amy DesJarlais and lives in South Pittsburg, TN with their three children Tyler, Ryan, and Maggie.” Strangely he doesn’t mention that he has another child by his former wife. What? Did the kid evaporate? Along with the child support payments no doubt. Maybe it is the fact that his ex-wife accused him in court documents of “dry firing a gun outside the Plaintiff’s locked bedroom door, admission of suicidal ideation, holding a gun in his mouth for three hours, an incident of physical intimidation at the hospital; and previous threatening behavior … i.e. shoving, tripping, pushing down, etc.” Don’t want the other kid and first marriage to a woman you abused brought up, do we Mr. Family Values?
Worse, the DesJarlais website also brags about the fact that “The DesJarlais family is active in the Epiphany Episcopal Church of Sherwood, Tennessee where Amy grew up”. I’m Episcopal, and I intensely dislike the idea that this goat blower goes there. Episcopalians believe that our communion is with all fellow members of the Church. That means I have shared communion with him. Ewwwww.
Seriously. Ewwwwwwww.

It’s ever so awesome, isn’t it? Apparently the situation occurred before he ran for office, yet I still have to think that he was likely a member of the GOP at the time, because it takes time to get high enough in any party’s hierarchy to make a run (much less a successful one) for federal office. So theoretically at the time this occurred, even though he wasn’t running for office and wasn’t an elected official, he was clearly disrespecting the tenets of the party I have to assume he belonged to at the time while climbing that power ladder.
Also apparently, when he ran against the democratic incumbent, that gentleman has since said they only got wind of the information a few days before the election & were unable to verify it’s accuracy so chose not to use it (which shows amazing class on the incumbent’s part). Since then, the veracity of the tape has, I believe, been independently confirmed via multiple sources. I also think the mistress in question chose to have the baby instead of the abortion. so there’s apparently two little kids out there not recognized by DesJarlais.
And while I understand the maelstrom of irony that is gleefully being stirred throughout the land of media, there are a couple of things I would like to see a bit of righteous indignation expressed about.
– Number 1 – adultery. Regardless of the whole hypocrisy of “pro-life unless it personally *inconveniences* me”, there’s that whole traditional family values that the GOP has been frothing about & trying to shove down everybody’s throats since the Reagan years. Adultery is not a “traditional family value”, even if you are in the process of getting a divorce, & most especially not if you are trying to reconcile with your spouse. Sheesh.
– Number 2 – an affair WITH A PATIENT. Hello massive ethics infraction!!!! don’t doctors lose their licenses over affairs with patients? And while I’m not sure he has an active medical license at this point in time, if he does, and there’s evidence that it occurred, is there a statute of limitations? Because if he still has that license, I believe it should be revoked. Right. Freaking. Now.
Sigh. yes, I live in Tennessee. The only positive thing about this for me, such as it is, is that he doesn’t actually represent MY district.
yeah i got stuck on the authority figure taking advantage of patient bit.
